Sydney Scanlan received her Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology from Yorkville University and completed her undergraduate degree in psychology at The University of Western Ontario. Sydney is a Registered Psychotherapist with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario. Sydney developed a passion for providing psychotherapy to individuals with Eating Disorders while completing a clinical practicum placement at Ontario Shores Centre for Mental Health Sciences. She has worked in both inpatient and outpatient treatment facilities for individuals with eating disorders.

Sydney has experience working in individual, family, and group therapy settings. She has worked with clients facing a variety of mental health challenges, including Eating Disorders, anxiety, depression, self-harm, suicidality, trauma, and difficulties in personality disturbances, emotion regulation, and interpersonal relationships. Sydney’s approach to therapy encompasses a range of therapeutic modalities including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), and Exposure Response and Prevention Therapy (ERP). She also has training and experience facilitating group DBT skills groups for adolescents with Eating Disorders.

Sydney provides a safe, non-judgmental, and compassionate environment for clients to express themselves openly and create meaningful change. She understands the importance of developing a genuine therapeutic relationship and strives to empower clients through collaboration and empathetic understanding.

Outside of work, Sydney enjoys cooking, being outdoors, and spending time with friends and family. Her interests include interior design and real estate.
