Kate Amato, J.D., M.B.A., M.A., Ph.D. Candidate
Clinical Therapist
Kate Amato is a Ph.D. candidate in the Clinical and Counselling Psychology program at the University of Toronto. She earned her M.A. in Clinical and Counselling Psychology from the University of Toronto and her B.A. (Honours) in Psychology from the University of St Andrews. Prior to beginning her Ph.D., Kate graduated from the J.D./M.B.A. program at the University of Toronto and practiced as a corporate lawyer in New York and Toronto.
Kate works with adolescents and adults facing various mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, academic and work-related stress, life transitions, and relational issues. Her doctoral research focuses on mental health in the workplace and, accordingly, Kate has a particular interest in working with individuals experiencing career challenges and burnout.
Kate’s therapeutic approach is integrative and collaborative. She incorporates evidence-based techniques from a variety of therapeutic modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), to meet each client’s unique needs and goals. She values the importance of a strong, trusting therapist-client relationship and is, therefore, dedicated to providing a warm and compassionate environment where clients feel understood and supported.
