Julia Friedman, M.Psy., RP (Qualifying)
Clinical Therapist

Julia Friedman is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) with a Master of Psychology from Adler Graduate Professional School and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Queen’s University. With experience supporting individuals through a variety of mental health challenges, Julia works with adults facing low mood, interpersonal difficulties, life transitions, loss, trauma, and various forms of anxiety. She believes that a successful therapeutic relationship is rooted in compassion, trust, and empathy, tailoring each session to her clients’ unique needs, personal histories, and life goals.
Julia employs an integrative, trauma-informed framework, drawing on elements from evidence-based modalities such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Interpersonal Therapy (IPT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Schema Therapy, and Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapy. In her work, Julia collaborates with clients to explore and understand how past and present experiences shape current challenges. By incorporating these approaches, she aims to help clients reframe their thoughts, emotions, and experiences, equipping them with tools to build adaptive, fulfilling pathways forward.
Julia is also deeply passionate about supporting individuals within the LGBTQ2S+ community and those facing mental health challenges associated with chronic conditions, such as diabetes. With focused training through JDRF’s mental health program, she is dedicated to helping clients manage the emotional impact of chronic illness alongside their unique personal experiences and identities. This commitment aligns with Julia’s overarching framework of fostering accessible, affirming, and empathetic mental health support for diverse needs and backgrounds.
In her spare time, Julia enjoys connecting with friends and family, diving into a good book, and exploring new travel destinations.
