Jenna Soberano is a Registered Social Worker who received her master’s degree from the Wurzweiler School of Social Work at Yeshiva University. Jenna has worked extensively with adolescents and young adults who are struggling with a wide range of mental health challenges, including anxiety, depression, eating disorders, relationship difficulties, trauma, emotion dysregulation, borderline personality disorder, self-harm, and suicidality. Jenna also works with caregivers, and seeks to empower them in their efforts to support their loved ones throughout their mental health journey.

Jenna prioritizes building trust, establishing a strong therapeutic relationship, and creating an environment in which clients feel safe, supported, and understood. Jenna believes that each client should be treated with the highest level of dignity and respect. In her work, Jenna demonstrates nonjudgmental acceptance, unconditional positive regard, and genuine and authentic caring for her clients. Jenna approaches sessions with warmth, empathy, curiosity, transparency, and humour when appropriate. Jenna’s approach is trauma-informed, client-centered, and strengths-based. Jenna works collaboratively with her clients, and makes every effort to meet her clients where they are at. Jenna is constantly inspired by her clients’ vulnerability and resiliency, and considers it a privilege to get to walk alongside them throughout the therapeutic process.

Jenna has experience with a variety of different treatment modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), and Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST). Jenna has also completed advanced trainings in Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT) and Collaborative & Proactive Solutions (CPS), which help guide her work with caregivers. Jenna draws upon these evidenced-based practices, and individualizes treatment plans based on client goals and needs.

Jenna has work experience in a variety of different settings, including schools, hospitals, and community-based programs. Prior to working at TPWG, Jenna worked as a therapist at the Looking Glass Residence, which is a residential treatment program for individuals recovering from eating disorders. Jenna has also worked on the Child Psychiatry Unit at BC Children’s Hospital, wherein she provided support and coaching to caregivers during their child’s admission. Jenna has also worked as an individual and family therapist at a youth and adolescent mental health agency in Toronto in the Gender-Based Violence program, and then in the Day Treatment program. Jenna completed her clinical training at Jewish Family and Child Services in their school social work program, and at York University’s Personal Counselling Services.

Outside of work, Jenna enjoys exploring the outdoors, playing hockey, and spending quality time with friends and family.
