Ainslie McLean, M.A., RP, CCC
Registered Psychotherapist
Ainslie McLean is a Registered Psychotherapist and Certified Canadian Counselor with over fifteen years of experience providing therapy to adolescents and adults. Ainslie provides evidence-based treatment to individuals with a variety of concerns including depression and anxiety, life transitions, identity changes/exploration, pregnancy and pregnancy loss, perinatal mood concerns, parenting, attachment, complex relationships (current and past), trauma, grief and loss, stress, and burnout recovery.
Ainslie has worked in a variety of community mental health settings including crisis centres, shelters, and young parent resource centers. Prior to joining Toronto Psychology and Wellness Group, Ainslie worked as an Infant Mental Health Clinician with vulnerable young adults who were pregnant or parenting. Ainslie’s approach to therapy is collaborative and strengths-based, and she brings a natural warmth and authenticity to her work. Ainslie prioritizes creating a therapeutic connection built on trust and acceptance, and supports clients in exploring ongoing challenges to uncover their origins, gain insight, build resilience, and work towards meaningful change.
Ainslie obtained her Master’s in Art Therapy from Concordia University and has specialized training in various theoretical and clinical modalities including Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Attachment theory, and Mindfulness-based approaches as well as infant and perinatal mental health. These modalities allow Ainslie to practice in a way that uniquely fits each individual client. Her approach is informed by feminist, anti-oppressive, queer-affirming, and trauma-informed principles, and she strives to provide a safe space for clients to explore their intersecting identities.
In addition to providing individual therapy at TPWG, Ainslie also offers clinical supervision and consultation to graduate students, qualifying RPs, RP’s working towards independent practice, or clinicians at any stage seeking additional support in their professional growth and development.
Ainslie is a mom to two silly, wonderful kids who make her a better person and a better therapist. In her solo time, she loves to get out for a bike ride, make art, read, and support her local roller derby scene.
