Carmel Avitzur is a Ph.D. student in Clinical Psychology at Toronto Metropolitan University. She holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Toronto Metropolitan University and an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Queen’s University. She is completing her practicum at TPWG under the supervision of Dr. Jasmin Katz and Dr. Megha Nagar.

Carmel is passionate about supporting individuals in navigating a wide range of mental health challenges. She has received clinical training in therapy and assessment across a range of hospital and interdisciplinary settings, including at the Centre for Addictions and Mental Health (CAMH), St. Michael’s Hospital, and Forward Thinking Psychological Services. In these roles, Carmel has worked with individuals experiencing mood and anxiety disorders, obsessive compulsive and related disorders, binge eating disorder, stressor-related disorders, and substance use difficulties. Carmel has also received training in comprehensive adult ADHD and ASD psychodiagnostic assessments.

Carmel strives to create a supportive, collaborative, and non-judgmental therapeutic environment. She works with clients to support meaningful progress toward their goals, while helping them clarify and act in accordance to their values.

In her free time, Carmel enjoys reading, running, and trying out new recipes.
