Dr. Ilana Walters, MD, MSc, FRCPC

General Paediatrician, TPWG + MD

TPWG - Toronto Psychology & Wellness Group - Adam Brotherwood

Dr. Ilana Walters is a paediatrician with a special interest in eating disorders. She earned her medical degree from Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and completed her residency in paediatrics at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Ontario. She previously completed a Master’s degree in Global Health with a specialization in health economics at McMaster University.

Dr. Walters’ approach to eating disorder care is shaped in part by training during the COVID-19 pandemic, when she helped manage unprecedented volumes of complex eating disorder cases. This experience reinforced her commitment to providing compassionate and evidence-based care grounded in practical, patient-centred approaches. She is deeply inspired by the resilience of her patients and approaches treatment as a collaborative, team-based process, partnering with families and multidisciplinary providers to work together toward recovery.

Outside her work at TPWG, Dr. Walters works as a general paediatrician at SickKids, providing general inpatient care and outpatient care focused on children with eating disorders and feeding concerns. She is also conducting research on mental health hospitalization volumes and system impact in Ontario.

When she’s not at work, Dr. Walters enjoys running after her toddler, exploring new coffee shops, and planning her next travel adventure.
