Dr. Rachel Mitchell is a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist at Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre and an Associate Scientist at the Sunnybrook Research Institute. She is also an Associate Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Toronto.
Dr. Mitchell brings a thoughtful, compassionate, and evidence-based approach to her clinical work with youth and families. Through her monthly Psychiatry Clinic at TPWG, she focuses on supporting adolescents experiencing mood challenges, emotional distress, and complex mental health concerns, with an emphasis on individualized care, collaboration, and therapeutic engagement.
Her research explores sex- and gender-related differences in suicide and mood disorders in adolescents, helping to inform more tailored and effective approaches to treatment. She has been recognized for her work with a Young Investigator Award from the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention and the International Society of Bipolar Disorders.
