Danielle Battaglia

Danielle Battaglia is a Registered Social Worker who received her Master’s degree from Wilfrid Laurier University and her bachelor’s degree in child and Youth Counseling from Ryerson University. Danielle works with adolescents and adults struggling with a range of mental health concerns including eating disorders, complex trauma and PTSD, mood and anxiety disorders, self-harm and suicidal behaviors. She also supports individuals and couples through major life transitions, pregnancy, postpartum depression and anxiety, adjusting to motherhood, parenting challenges, grief and loss.

Danielle’s approach to therapy is individualized, non-judgmental, trauma informed and collaborative. She is grounded in evidenced based practices and draws from multiple therapeutic modalities including Emotion-Focused therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Acceptance and commitment therapy, Internal family systems, Narrative and Solution Focused therapy. Danielle strives to create a safe space for clients to tell their story in their own way at their own pace. She meets clients where they are at in this moment and believes clients are the experts of their own story.

Danielle has specialized in the treatment of Pediatric Eating Disorders over the last 8 years. She has extensive knowledge and experience providing meal support, running psychoeducation groups for families and teaching DBT skills on an inpatient unit. Danielle is currently a Family Therapist in the Outpatient program at Southlake Regional Health Centre. She has knowledge and skills delivering Family Based Treatment (FBT), DBT for eating disorders and CBT-E.
She also has over 10 years experience providing counseling, crisis intervention and behavioral support in different setting within the Children’s Mental Health sector (ie. Schools, residential treatment, hospitals, and shelters).

Outside of work Danielle enjoys spending time with her husband, two daughters and their teacup sized Yorkie. She is also a book lover and enjoys being out in nature and going to the cottage.
