Orly Lipsitz, MA, Ph.D. (Candidate)
Clinical Therapist
Orly Lipsitz is a Ph.D. Candidate in Clinical Psychology at the University of Toronto, where she also received her Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology. She specializes in working with adults experiencing a range of challenges, including mood and anxiety disorders, obsessive compulsive and related disorders, personality disorders, emotion regulation difficulties, perfectionism, and self-harming and suicidal behaviours.
Orly uses a collaborative approach to both assessment and intervention, and considers each client’s unique values, goals, and strengths. Her therapeutic approach is grounded in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and incorporates Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and exposure and response prevention, depending on the needs and presenting concerns of each client. She supports clients in working towards a values-driven, meaningful life.
Orly has trained in both clinical psychology and neuropsychology across a number of sites within the GTA. At the University of Toronto Health and Wellness Centre, Orly provided brief psychotherapy to university students presenting with a broad range of concerns including attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, emotion dysregulation, interpersonal challenges, and adjustment to life transitions. At Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre, Orly provided psychotherapy and assessment for adults with severe obsessive compulsive and related disorders in an intensive live-in program. Orly also trained in neuropsychology through the Hurvitz Brain Sciences Program at Sunnybrook and in the Pencer Brain Tumour Clinic at Princess Margaret Cancer Center. In line with Orly’s training in both clinical psychology and neuropsychology, she works with clients to consider how biological, psychological, and social factors can play a role in mental health.
