Savie Edirisinghe

Savie Edirisinghe (she/her) is a Ph.D. student in Clinical Psychology at Toronto Metropolitan University. She also completed her MA at Toronto Metropolitan University, specifically exploring the ways Buddhism and Clinical Psychology can be integrated in intervention for disordered eating and body image concerns. Previously, she completed her Honours B.Sc. in Psychology at Queen’s University.

Savie’s practice is anti-oppressive, trauma-informed, person- and community-centered, evidence-based, and grounded in healing and liberation. She uses an integrative approach, drawing from a range of evidence-based therapies to meet her clients’ individualized needs. She believes that a positive, trusting, and collaborative relationship between the client and therapist is a key ingredient in growth and healing. Savie is dedicated to always cultivating a safe, nurturing, and compassionate environment. Savie may be a great fit for you if you are experiencing disordered eating, difficulties with your body image, depression, anxiety, relationship difficulties, emotion regulation, or a personal journey related to your identity and culture. We will work together to integrate all the elements of your self-world which are important to you into therapy, such as ethnicity, race, gender, spiritual beliefs, sexuality, and lived experiences.

Savie has completed a clinical practicum at St. Michael’s Hospital where she provided individual assessment and intervention services to young adults and adults experiencing a range of psychosocial concerns. She has also had experience in community settings, providing crisis support and mental health support to members of her community.

Outside of her clinical practice, Savie is a community organizer and advocate. She also loves spending time with her family and friends, exploring her hometown of Toronto, reading, and watching films. She is excited and honoured to join you on your own journey of healing and growth.
