Cody Cane is a Ph.D. Candidate in the Clinical and Counselling Psychology program at the University of Toronto. He completed his M.A. in Clinical and Counselling Psychology at the University of Toronto, and his Bachelor of Cognitive Science at Carleton University. Cody works with individuals who experience a range of mental health concerns, including depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder, body-focused repetitive behaviours, school and work stress, emotional regulation difficulties, life transition and interpersonal struggles, and other general problems in living.
Cody uses an eclectic evidence-based approach drawing from a background primarily in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), as well as Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT) and Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT). He focuses on developing a collaborative, empathetic, and accepting environment to best understand his client’s needs and concerns, and to guide them to reaching their treatment goals and in developing a vision and finding meaning within their life.
Cody has completed clinical practica at the University of Toronto Scarborough’s Health & Wellness Centre and other private GTA practices. During these placements, he has provided both individual and group therapy to adults and adolescents. Cody is part of several research projects focused on the relationship between the brain and psychopathology.
In his free time, Cody spends his time in the gym, running, reading, or playing guitar.
